About Me

I am Fely (like Jelly) and I (accidentally) started Sew Nicely Done in 2011. It all happened when I uploaded a couple of pictures of some personalised bags I made for my children.  Within a week, the pictures sparked a lot of interests which led me to discover the public's fascination for bespoke handmade bags. The first order for my handmade bags came a couple of days after I uploaded the pictures on my Facebook page and the rest, as they say, is history.

Professionally, I graduated as a teacher with a B.ed in TESL, which means I have absolutely no background in design or sewing. The birth of my youngest in 2009 had me convinced that the continuous demand of the teaching profession did not agree with my family life. Ironically, after I became a stay at home mum, I found myself in limbo as I was trying to get used to a much quieter pace of life. And this was when I discovered the wonderful world of crafting and sewing;   bag making in particular. One day in March 2010, I decided to teach myself how to work a sewing machine so I can use it to make my first bag. I was hooked and never looked back since.

All my bags are designed and handmade by myself, in my little workshop in Wilmington, East Sussex, UK. My workshop is situated in the middle of a working farm, to which I draw my daily inspirations from. My designs are very much influenced by the wonderful views of the South Downs that can be seen through my windows (and also by constantly looking at other people's bags when I am out and about - strange but true).

I now keep myself busy with taking personal orders for bespoke handmade bags using some set patterns that I created myself. I specialise in making bags using oilcloth. At the same time, I'm also constantly working on new projects or perfecting new patterns for bags of all sorts. I hope to be able to spread this joy to like-minded crafters and also to those who just love and appreciate one of a kind handmade bags. This is a dream I never knew I had!
